Court-Ordered Counselling

I provide psychotherapy for individuals involved with law. Court-ordered therapy is meant to be a catalyst for change for individuals involved in the legal system. However, this process is often confusing and overwhelming. A sincere effort is made to engage clients in a respectful and non-judgemental manner. This court-ordered counselling is a way for these individuals to facilitate positive solutions for legal issue they face in the court. Therapy often combines cognitive reframing techniques to address specific issues as mentioned in the referral. I generally get referrals from Lawyers, Courts, Probation & Parole and Children Aid Societies. I have been qualified by the Courts as an expert in providing treatment to sex offenders.

I accept referrals for counselling on the following issues:

  • Domestic Violence & Spousal Abuse
  • Anger Management
  • Substance Abuse (Alcohol and Drug Abuse)
  • Sex offender counselling (Appropriate Sexual Behaviour and Healthy Boundaries)
  • Internet offences (Luring, child pornography etc.)
  • Internet Pornography Addiction and Compulsive Behaviour
  • Counselling for Theft, Fraud and Shoplifting charges
  • Psychotherapy for mental health issues

Individuals seeking these services generally need to fulfill obligations to the referral source ( Courts, Probation etc.) and are often required to meet these requirements in a timely fashion. I always make an effort to work around the schedule and availability of the clients. In some cases, intensive sessions are provided to meet the requirements before the legal deadlines.
